Our Beautiful Region

Betoota was a thriving town at the turn of the century as a post for collecting state taxes for goods travelling between states. Up until 1997 it had a population of one- the hotel owner. He closed the doors of the hotel in 1997 and it has been closed ever since. For those travelling to Betoota Windorah is the last fuel stop between Windorah and Birdsville. Betoota is halfway in between.

Accommodation is camping only. There are waterholes in close proximity, which make for great camping. On race weekend there is ample camping at the track with hot and cold showers and septic toilets available for use by patrons.

Race weekend, caterers start operating with tea being served Friday night and meals being available right through to Breakfast on Sunday morning of race weekend.
